An Introduction to Me

Introduction:

Hello, my name is Trevor Redpath and this blog is being used as a public copy of all of the course work that I have done throughout the UAS program at Purdue. This blog was initially created for 209 and used in 219 as well. Now for this semester, it will be used to track mine AT 309 progress. The course is taught by Professor Hupy (jhupy@purdue.edu). For this first lab, the task was to look at other blogs that were created previously and look at the good and the bad of them. For the 5 students that I reviewed were Ricky (the model blog), Kaleb, Jesse, Tristan, and John.

Reviews:

Ricky: I liked Ricky’s blog, it was well organized and everything about it just screamed professional. His contact page is very well descriptive and tells the reader a lot about him. One thing I did not like is that the assessments page was ordered highest to lowest and I personally would have flipped it. The Figures are large and easy to see and the aerial photos and videos were a nice touch where he provided personal content that he captured himself.

Kaleb: Kaleb’s blog was good too, it was dark and easy to read as well as had all of the necessary components. His figures were well organized and provided a nice area where all of his figures were kept. On one of his latest posts seemed to have the image missing though which was one drawback and the other part of his site that I didn’t really like was that on the Home page you had to click more to see the contact and some other tabs.

Jesse: Jesse also had a good looking blog that was clean and clear of clutter, and it was organized from Week 1 to 10. Her imagery tab didn’t have any images on it though which was a bummer because she had some good pictures throughout her articles.

Tristan: I looked at Tristan's and also liked his blog, but he used the same theme that Kaleb did which didn’t allow for all of the headers to be shown at once which did bother me but again it had all of the necessary topics listed. I also liked how he labeled his maps and tables page with the corresponding labs.

John: John was nice but also a little plain. His first article didn’t have its image load but the other articles all loaded and they looked well-formatted with the same across all of them. Finally, His contact page didn’t have any info on the class and him so I was a little bummed about that.

Conclusion:

After reviewing 5 other blogs and looking at the things that I noticed I made sure to try and incorporate the strengths and build on the weaknesses that were observed. This will help ensure that my blog is up to the standards of the class.
